wrong
other than power handling, and the color of the cone, what is the difference? im just curious.
Differences between the two is farther than the cone. If you knew how a speaker works...color doesn't matter.
Everything that makes a speaker a speaker is different between the two.

i know color of the cone doesn't matter. dont take me for the average fool, i know how a speaker works so please let me have it. i would love to know the difference between a CVR and a CVX. is the voice coil made of a different material? voice coil wound a different way? cone reinforced differently or made of something else other than IMPP? magnet a little bit heavier? maybe 4mm more xmax? a more luxurious rubber boot around the magnet? seriously? if the only answer you can give me is " I wont understand the difference even if you broke it down in barney terms" than that's not really good enough to qualify as an answer.
if you know your stuff about speaker design like you claim, and im not saying you dont, (everybody knows about different things)you should be able to give me a straight answer.
and once again, im not trying to call you out to a wild west show down on this issue, i'm really curious to know what is the big difference between a CVR and CVX that would justify such a huge price difference.

and the CVX is about 2.5 DB more sensitive and supposedly handles 2x more power RMS, but ill believe this when i see it. the CVX is a round L7 and the CVR is a round L5, either way, both subs are garbage.

i looked up the specs and compared what i could because they wont give any real specs for the CVX. i looked up the 15 model of both and what i found was the CVR's resonant frequency is 0.7Hz lower. the xmax for the CVR is 12.5mm they didn't post the CVX's xmax (big surprise there). the CVX has twice the rms power handling in a small enclosure (2ft^3) but if you put it in the recommended SQ enclosure (5.2ft^3) the power handling drops to 500 max, im sure this is due to mechanical stress and not thermal tolerance. this is everything i could compare from the pdf owners manual of both subs, but it seems to me that they are purposely hiding all specs that mean anything for the CVX and i wonder why.

Probably because they are almost the identical woofer. Just like the L5 and L7 kicker cvr's or cvx - Page 2 - Last Post -- posted image.

Definatly go with the 3 cvrs.you will get way more pressure from three cvr 15s compared to 2 cvx 15s..the subs are almost identical sound security is more than right.

difference between the CVR and CVX.
different coil, different spider(s), different motor, different goal...EVERY ASPECT that goes into a speaker is different.
The difference between a CVR and a CVX is the same difference that is between a CVR and any other subwoofer on the market.
