Did you add lock unlock switches or did you integrate it into an aftermarket keyless entry/alarm/remote start?
I am going to guess that you added this to an aftermarket system. The vehicle options have absolutely nothing to do with it since it does not have power locks from the factory, if there are no actuators (factory) onstar cannot unlock the doors and they CANNOT operate yours.
If you turn off ignition locks on the unit the doors will not lock when they ignition is cycled so they will not be locked when he tries to get out of the car with it running. That is why they are telling you to turn off ignition locks
If you do not want to cut hole for lock switches why not just do a momentary switch within easy reach under the dash to operate the locks. You can do one for lock and one for unlock, am sure you have some momentary switches laying around or you could buy a rocker switch and mount it under the dash, again, easily assessable.

ok, to make things clearer.....the vehicle locks and when the door handle is pulled the locks do not unlock. RIGHT? this has nothing to do with the aftermarket locks. its the way the FACTORY latch assembly was made.  you do realize there is a lock/unlock button/pull that the customer can move with his/her fingers to exit the vehicle. if this is a problem because of the passenger door...well you should of used a lock kit that was 5 wires and it would of been controlled from the drivers door lock/unlock pull.
