I installed a omega excalibur AL-1820-EDP alarm in a 1999 toyota 4runner limited. I got everything to work properly except for the remote start. I am new to the transponder bypass thing. I did purchase a IB-tbkIII universal transponder and also a ib-t transponder interface...(I don't think I need to install both of them together but I have purchased one because I couldn't get the other to work)... Which transponder is easier and faster to install?

I am really confused on how to wire any of the transponders with the alarm to get the remote start to work, I have been trying for two days now but to no avail. What else do I need to do? Can someone PLEASE help me I need to get the remote start working because it is getting cold?

Thanks, Joe

On a universal module, you need to put a functional key inside the box, then put the ground wire to the GWR wire of the remote starter and the red wire to the ignition wire of the remote starter....that's it....very simple

ok thanks for your reply... the key was already inserted... the red wire goes to the ignition wire of the remote starter and the ground wire to the ground of the remote start or can it be grounded anywhere?
Thanks, Joe

No, the black wire goes to the ground when running of the remote starter...not ground.

It's the wire that goes to ground when the remote start is activated! on dei units it's blue/white.

I tried everything I cannot get this thing to remote start. I am positive I have done everything right with installing the TBK. What does it take to get this thing to work!!!! Everything should be programmed with the remote (I suppose), I believe it is something I am overlooking... Im stomped!

Anymore suggestions will be very appreciated!

Thanks, Joe

How about the ring that goes around the ignition cylinder...Just make sure the ring is attached properly to the ignition cylinder...Does it remote start fine with the key in the ignition....? Just dont have both keys showing at the same time...! Meaning when trying the key in the ignition...Make sure the bypass is disconnected...!! Make sure you test the key in the bypass also...Start the vehicle to assure that the key is good...Are those the ones(bypass) that you have to wrap a few times around the ignition cylinder?(the wires that wrap the cylinder are thin and need multiple turns around cylinder) What happens when you remte start...All the lights come on the dash...But it doesnt crank...ETC...? Or it does nothing...?
