The administrator has gone off to buy you a new crystal ball, I was going to be clever and spout off about one look headlamps, etc. and I could tell when, except I didn't read the question properly.
We cheat in the UK, from 2001, in the index number it was 01, then 51, then 02 and 52. Japanese Grey imports are the only vehicles without VIN numbers.

OK, because I just went to the UK site and all we got was the 88v/a at £435, = $600+, so it has to be a new crystal ball for you.

Our administrator needs all the credit for this one.  Until he pointed out that there was some sort of a patern, I had no clue.  I simply did a search for 10th digit of vin.  That came up.  But glad to see we can help some of you.

From this day forward I will refer to the VIN to find the year of the car. (High fives administrator and i am an idiot) Yes! I will never be wrong again.

2010 is going back to letters, so it will be A, 2011 - (B), 2012 - (C) etc.
Think. It's not illegal yet.
