1999 honda accord ex v6, viper 5901

Hello guys this will be my first time installing an alarm and I will be tackling a Viper 5901. Frequently I read people recommend taking it to the pro's but I'm on summer vacation with a lot of free time so I'm going to take it upon myself to make projects to keep me busy and productive. I love learning new things so I decide it would be fun to learn how to install alarms . I been read/researching for days now, looking for answers to some of the basic questions..which I found but some are left unanswered. I spent hours yesterday probing wires just to confirm different wiring diagrams I found online. Well enough said here are some of my questions..mostly on H3 harness of the viper alarm. 1. If my car has 2 accessory wires, WHITE/ Black test 12V with key and Yellow tested 12V when the car is running but 0V when the car is off, am I require connect both wires? The reason I am asking is because reading through 100s of threads some people stated that you only need to connect one accessory wire for Honda's? 2. If 2 accessory wire is need to be connected, can you show me how to connect it? I have an idea but not a definite answer. I know that h3/7 of the viper harness allows you to program for ign2 or acc2. 3. Can you appoint me to where I can find more information on things such as IGN 2, IGN 3, ACC 2, and ACC 3? I know some car has more than others but what is their function and how can we test for them? This question came up while researching because some diagram listed the yellow wire as IGN3 and another as ACC2 and another as IGN 2..so its confusing. 4. Is progressive lock programmed or do I need to wire it a certain way? I have a factory alarm. that's all i have for now. i basically found my answer to everything else. sorry if its too basic!

Lots of questions you have, learn you will. 1. WHITE/ Black tested 12v with the key, care to enlighten us on what "with the key" means exactly? For a remote start system you have to hook up all ignition wires that power/run the engine and computers, you also need to hook up the accessory/ignition wire that powers the heater-A/C. This is the bare minimum, you can hook up all the ignition/accessory wires if you desire. An actual wiring diagram will tell what wire goes where so you can determine if you want/need it hooked up. 2. I'm not familiar with the setup on the 5901 so I'll leave that to someone else until I can get my hands on the install manual for the 5901. 3. Multiple ignition and accessory wires just power up different systems in the car. In the old days it used to be just one ignition for the engine and heater, and one accessory for the radio and other few accessories. With all the electronics in cars now you can't run all of them off a single wire feed so multiple ignition and accessory wires/feeds are used. When doing a remote start install, you have to figure out for each car what is the bare minimum that you have to power and if you desire figure out if you want to/can power anything else. 4. Progressive door lock as in driver priority door lock (press unlock once to unlock the driver door, press a second time to unlock all doors)? If that's what you mean then yes it has to be wired into the appropriate trigger wire and the system needs to be programmed for it. The factory alarm as you know will need to be disabled since your replacing it. Best of luck/fun with your install, I myself am having equal fun installing my old hornet 554T 2-way remotestart/alarm into my dodge ram pickup. I'm lucky that the truck already had a code alarm sure start remote start on it so most of my wires are already tapped and I've already found all the others I need. Only the sun stands in my way. Wish I had a garage, air conditioned/heated/well lit preferrably.

The 5901 can accomodate all acccesory and ingition wires on that vehicle, BLACK / YELLOW is true ignition the pink heavy gauge wire connects to theis, the black white wire is the starter cut it in half and connect the side from the keys to the green and the other side to the purple! The rest are easy, all the reds to the hot at the swictch and the remaining wires to the accessory wires that are left over!

Progressive locking is wired in a certain way and it also has to be programmed accordingly!

thank you for your insight! I now do have an understanding on ign1,2 etc. I took my car apart again and found that WHITE/ black is accessory 1 and yellow is accessory 2. Yellow powers up heater/ac so that wire what i shall be using. found all the wires that i will be needing and will be installing on sunday because i do not have a garage too. my friend was kind enough to let me use his for the whole day or until i am finish I hope your install goes well! use the pink/white from the remote start and connect it to the WHITE/ black acc1 wire to keep idiot lights from coming on. then program it as an accessory.

for the progressive locks you will need a few relays and would need to 5wire the lock/unlock the motor wires. you dont have to program anything. just wire it correctly. the lt. blue in H2 harness will unlock the passenger doors

Thanx, my install went pretty much as planned. Your right making an install neat and clean is hard, mine came out pretty clean and neat enough for me

hello guys. i got my system installed for several days now and it has been working great. once glitch that i found was that *sometimes* when i pop my trunk using the remote, the alarm goes off? does the trunk pin need to be diode isolated or something? it works great at home but when i visited a relative this week that lives in an area that is usually 15 degrees hotter than where i live it started acting strange.

which alarm is going off? the Viper or the factory alarm?

The viper alarm is set off when I use the trunk pop function.
