What Setting do i put it on to check for 12V? I feel like such a tard when it comes to this doodie

FYI - never current (Amps) or Resistance (Ohms) across a power source! (Volts is safe across or between anything unless over-ranged/over-voltage.)
PS - you may be a 'tard, but IMO that's ok. It's the attitude that counts. (And sometimes if advice is NOT followed, or not understood & not questioned...)
