Can someone please tell me where exactly the tach wire in a 2006 mishibishi outlander......this is what i found on the net, but don't know exactly where.

Tachometer Wire Negative Wire (-): WHITE/ Green
Tachometer Wire Negative Wire Location: At Engine Speed Detection Connector. The engine speed detection connector is a single pin connector in the fuse/relay box under the hood.

but when i open the hood up, i see bunch of fuses and don't know which one they are talking about.  if some one can give me little more detail and perhap the picture of it, that would be awesome. thanks in advance.

If this wire is being used for a remote start Tach input signal, you could just connect to the #1 Fuel Injector Orange wire.  Might be easier to locate.  All quality remote starters are able to tach learn the F.I. signal.

To test the Tach wire with a Digital Multi Meter, set the meter for 20 V AC and connect the Black lead to chassis ground and the Red lead to the suspect wire.  Should show between 1 to 6 volts and increase with RPMs.

Soldering is fun!

is that mean that I don't have to use this wire?  I am installing the remote start viper 5101 to this vehicle.  I wonder if anyone have the wire diagram which wire hook to which for this vehicle and this remote start.  I  also use the by pass 791 module.  Do you know which wire from 791 module hook to the viper 5101 and the vehicle?  I did have the spare key installed.  thanks for you quick respond.

The Viper should be able to use the Fuel Injector as a Tach Source.  After you locate and verify the wire,

make sure the connection is soldered.  Set the Viper to Tach mode and do the Tach Learn sequence.

The Bulldog 791 bypass has only 3 wires to connect.  The Red wire goes to +12 v constant.  The Orange wire

goes to Chassis ground and the Blue wire goes to the Vipers' (-) 200mA Status Output ( usually Blue ).  Run
the antenna wire / loop to the ignition cylinder as described in the install guide.

As for the wiring guide, Bulldog Secutity has it.  Here is a link to their web site :  http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.asp

AudioVox has a wiring guide also.  Here is their link :  http://techservices.audiovox.com/Login.aspx   Sign-up is free.

The preferred way is to use the Tach mode for starting the vehicle.  That requires a Tach signal input.

The Viper can run in Virtual Tach mode but depending on the vehicle it may not be as reliable as Tach mode.

Soldering is fun!

Each injector will have two wires. One colour is common to all the injectors, just pick any of the others. (Square rail on top of cylinder head). Test as above.
Actually this vehicle isn't on the guide here, try Bulldog.

Check your power and grounds with a DMM, check to see if you're getting output, leave the key in the ignition then try a R/S, answer these queries and tell us what happens. Do you get instrument panel lights coming on?
