I suppose you could get a UK spec (GSM 900Mhz)single band external glass mount from Algon, etc....oh forget it.

Yes it work's off the conductivity of the jawbone acting as an antenna booster.

I have found that this particular alarm system does not provide very good two way communication. In addition, if there is tint on your windshield where the dipole antenna is placed, that will also diminish reception.

Place the remote on the bottom of your chin.  Then press the button.  Depending on your height, this can almost double your range.

Of course if these people were installing GPS, or old school radio telephony or even back to CB radio they would have learned the basics:
The higher the better
It can't see through metal
Ground plane
Of course these factors also apply to proximity detectors at 44ghz.

Been around since at least the early 90s Clarkson did it on top gear many years ago.
