If the rear defog is a pulsed feed at the AC controls then you should have been asked if you wanted it, it would have taken them at most 10 minutes to include it with no parts! If pulsed it probably turns off after about 10 minutes anyway and on a new car I wouldn't worry about negative effect on the car, NO difference to the remote starts. As for that switch, I got sick of having to extend the wiring so I could mount them where the customers wanted them, now I simply cut and solder join the leads, what's the point of it anyway?
