shipped out at about 2pm today.

im sure dei would use diodes in the 451M since they are good odds they are gonna be used on dei brains.

i was not aware of the +/- to - change.

I always dioded them when they had that flip-flop (+/-) lock/unlock outputs.
Used to get problems with European BCMs otherwise.
Thank you Siemens.

Howie, No Diodes inside a 451m, just 2 micro relays soldered to a PC board and the wires soldered to the edge of the PC Board. Very Very basic.

I haven't taken one apart in a while but I don't remember seeing any diodes. I used to take them apart frequently when I only needed one relay. The micro relays were much nicer to hide than your standard relay. You just had to score it right down the middle and solder a new + onto the one relay. Then you had 2 nice micro relays that could be easily hidden.

There is enough room to solder in diodes. I've done it before, You just use a knife to cut the solder trace for your output wire and solder in your diode. You can also add a diode across the coils. Then I use liquid black tape and brush it over the board. Howie, the next time I modify one, I'll PM you if you want and send you send Pics.

Don't be silly been doing it for years with my $1.5 home made version of DEI's 8166 mini relay.
1 X 20 amp PCB relay, Omron etc, $1
1 X 1N4004 diode 0.3 cents e.a.
Cables, red, black, brown, yellow and orange from the bits box free.
38 mm sleeving about 10 cents each.

The resistors are for cars with MUX locking systems, ignore, the wiring instructions are next to the resistors and engraved on the module try reading the instructions, failing that plug it into the lock socket on your R/S, assuming type "A", purple and purple black to a 12V+ constant, GREEN/ black to lock and blue/black to unlock.
Tape up (insulate) the BROWN / black and the WHITE/ black.
So simple really.
