Should be power, door locks, door triggers, hood pin, and trunk.
No question is stupid or not worth asking. You were once a noob, right? :)

you wasted money if you purchased a 5706, and only plan to use the alarm functions. I would just end up connecting a few more wires and have both work.
alarm only = lock/unlock, all door triggers, hood, rear gate, siren, led

Thanks for the replies i got 5706 for the extended 2 range remotes. where I'm running into my problem is the starer cut off and think i need to use the green and violet wires from the remote start plug. but I've also heard that i need to connect the RED / black and the red wires from the remote start plug too. but I'm not sure.

You'll need the green and violet wires if you plan on doing a starter cutout, but you shouldn't need the other heavy gauge wires if you're not doing the remote start feature.

You'll also need to connect the pink wire to an ignition source.
Though you can use a thinner gauge wire if not using the R/Start.

Which way round and to what did you connect the green an violet, also did you connect the pink ignition as I told you to do?

Viper systems work a little different from others. The only time the starter is cut out is when the system is armed. If you sit in the truck, arm the system and give it 30 seconds to fully engage. Then try to start the truck with the key. The starter should not turn, and if the pink wire is connected, the alarm should go off.
If the alarm triggers but the truck starts, you have a problem with the green and violet wires.
You have to cut the truck's starter wire in two to get this to work. The green wire should go to the starter wire coming from the ignition tumbler. The violet goes out to the starter.
If the alarm does not trigger, temporarily disconnect the pink wire and try the same test again (arm and try to start).
I haven't used the cutout in a while, so I can't remember if the pink will disarm the system when it gets power.
The pink will still need to be used so it will clear the alarm history and allow for programming.
