I've had enough of my Matrix alarm not working. I'm just going to replace it with a 3305V alarm. How hard is this install? I have never installed an alarm, but I am mechanically inclined. I'm worried about frying something, but I'm short on money to have this professionally done. I didn't really expect my original DEI alarm to crap out.

Good info!
One thing that worries me is the manual that states:
H1/1 ORANGE (-) ground-when-armed output
This wire supplies a (-) ground as long as the system is armed. This output ceases as soon as the
system is disarmed. The orange wire is pre-wired to control the 8618 starter kill relay. It can supply
up to 500 mA of current.
My current Matrix 10.5x alarm has no such relay. It must all be onboard somehow. So, I'm not sure if this relay is provided, how it hooks up, or anything like that. This part is what makes me nervous.

1.) Any idea why a 5305 alarm would be priced cheaper than a 3305 alarm on ebay in general?
2.) Are ALL 3305 alarms exactly the same (viper, avital, python)?

It's been about 28 years since I sold any DEI products, so I really can't answer either one of those questions, but I'm sure some of our other members can.

OK, I've looked at the pictorial, and honestly, it's not that helpful. I have a 2005 Diesel Super Duty. Anyway, the 3305 alarm has 3 wire unlock harness and I'm not sure if its even used and if it is, where the wires go.

Not sure where to hook these up.

The pictorial is very helpful. Your vehicle has type C (5 Wire Alternating 12 Volts Positive) door locks. See the fourth and fifth image in the pictorial.
You can wire 2 relays as shown below or a 451M module (which is 2 prewired relays).

How in the world did the installers put my current matrix 10.5x without all of these relays?

Many alarms have built in relays.
