Does anyone know how to hook up the transponder to this vehicle, I've had people tell me it can't be done. any info would be usefull. thanks

the tech sheets i lookd up only go to a 96, if the people telling you it can't be done are from a shop the does a lot of high dollar installs then it may not be possible, but there are not a lot of cars that can't be done.

here is the info for an 01 range rover

Notes:

NOTE: This vehicle has an immobilizer system that needs to be bypassed when adding remote start. Use DEI module 555U. *1 This wire is high current negative. MUST use relay. The fuel door release is lt. GREEN/ gray, low current negative, at the switch or BECM (Body Electrical Control Module) under the passenger seat. *2 Pulsing this wire the same time as lock will arm the factory alarm. Pulsing it the same time as unlock will disarm the factory alarm. *3 To interface with the negative ignition wire to remote start, see directfax document #1500 for wiring information.

You can use a universal bypass module for this vehicle. You will loose a key though.
