I don’t know where you are but, out here in Southern California I can pick up the Aluminums for  about $250+ form an authorized dealer (with negotiations of course).

Now that's a deal dude, no doubt, even $380 is not that bad. I also use 1" or greater (like two laminated 3/4" pieces) when ever I build boxes for the aluminums. Do not mount that sub with drywall screws, they have a bad habit of breaking with that sub!

im being uptight about spending money on subs this time ive wasted so much, ive gone through a jl w3v2 12, 2 12" kicker comps, an old 18" cv studio speaker, and currently have alpine R10's which are the best ive had. i just want to know if i will notice a difference from the alpine to eclipse. the reason i ask now is because i can get two alpine 12's for the price i will pay for a eclipse alum. 12. also would anybody reccomend the MTX 9500 over the eclipse alum.?

which would be a better buy from a sq/spl point of view a 12" brahama or an eclipse sw8122? both would get about 500wrms/1000wrms in their own prespective box designs.

You will defiantly get more Spl from the Eclipse, and in my opinion the Eclipse is an overall better sub. As far as the price goes the MSRP on the Eclipse Aluminum 12 is $399.99 so $380 is not any kind of a deal. I know how you feel about spending money on subs. I was the same way I used to change out subs constantly because always felt I could get better sound. After countless mid and high end subs I finally tried Eclipse and they are the only subs that I have been completely satisfied with. I don’t know how many Eclipse dealers are in your area, but I would find your self a better price. Personally I would not pay more then $300 out the door tops.
