The security light only turns on when the ignitionis first turned on and then shuts off a couple seconds after the car is started. If you had an alarm, it would also flash when the door is open. The light does double duty when there is an alarm along with the standard Passlock.

Ok, I saw a light that did say security on this, but I wasn't aware that this was passlock.  So after I get the relay and install that, and hook up the pink wires and ground the blue/white, I should be set?  Thanks for all the info, I almost got it.

no do not ground the blue/white!!  that is the remote start activation input.  it looks for a ground pulse coming off a seperate alarm to control the remote start.  if u ground it, the unit is going to keep tyring to remote start!!!  and no ur not done yet.  you still have to bypass passlock II.  otherwise when u first try to remote start the car, passlock will kick in and not allow u to start the vehicle for like 15 minutes.  and u must leave ur key in the ignition and turn the ignition on for the whole 15min so u can start the vehicle agian with your key

did you read my first post in this thread at all, for the blue/white wire?  "sorry, just read the rest of your post.  the remote start activation input isnt needed.  that is used for alarms to trigger the RS, so you can add eiter one later and stil have everything work.  you dont need the ignition output to alarm either."

you dont use a relay for passlock II or I, thats for VATS.  use a DEI part 555L and bypass it.  youll need the constant, ignition and status wire from the remote start and the yellow and black passlock wires that come from the key cyl.  heres link to the 555L, go to best buy and pick one up for $49.99, the install book is in there too.

look at the list of vehicles and youll see that your car is passlock II so follow the wiring and program insturctions for it.  this is one of the easiest bypasses to install.

I recommend using a unit from bypaskit.com, but if you dont want to spend the money you can use a relay and a resistor.

To get the resistence value: Strip back the Black wire. Start the car with the key, then cut the yellow passlock wire. strip back the key side of the yellow wire and take a DMM and put one lead on the key side of the yellow wire and the other on the Black wire. Record the resistence, then reverse the two leads and record the resistence. Dial in the higher of the two resistences recorded into a trimpot (or buy a resistor within 5% of the measured value) and set it up using a standard 30 amp automotive relay according to the diagram.
