My box is  finally built for my Alpine Type R12(300Wrms/1000W peak, 2 ohm DVC), time for the new amp.  It's between the brand new Rockford Fosgate PunchP5002(500W x1 rms@ 4 ohm), or last years RF Power 551s(550W x1).  Both are said to put out more than their rated power.  Can this sub handle 5-600W rms?  RF also makes a Power450, which puts out a little less.  What do you think experts?

Yes, it will definately handle 500 wrms.  My co-worker had 2 10" type-r running off a mrd-m1000 in a ported box tuned to 50 hz, so the subs were pret near open air and they took it incredibly whell, he could not get totally cranked because it would bottom the subs out, but thats all becuase the box.   If you put that in a sealed box and it will rock like no tomorrow.

The sub should handle the power as long as you don't get out rageous and run them over long hauls with this type of power..

yea, coming from a guy with the name "fuseblower" you might wanna listen to him.  j/k. Type r's can handle some extra power. In fact, i wouldnt give them any less than 400 watts in a sealed enclosure. I loved my type r's. Great sub.

Anyone know off hand what the peak power of the RF amps I mention above is?  A local retailer told me that the new PunchP500 puts out more like 6-700W rms, but he said nothing about peak.  The R will be running at 4 ohms bridged, RF amps perform best @ 4 ohms-right?

To Pola, yea thats enough power. to alex, i wouldnt hold my breath. He was probably referring to 6-700 rms at like 17 volts. Just stick to the specs on the box at 12.5. Thats gonna be ur best bet man.
