below are the specs for the mofo series. the vas is supposed to be 5.0 cu ft. that's a typo.

i dont know where you live but i can find brand new, current models and closeouts from  jl, fosgate, kicker l7, infinity, jbl, polk audio and mb quart at the flea market right along side power acoustik. i checked the reviews from owners of their product and most seem to be happy with their purchase. i've seen magazine reviews on their class d amps and they put out their rms rating. as far as imports from china, damn near all car electronics you buy are imports. but that says nothing about product. i would buy the sub from a dealer that offers a return policy and listen for myself. if the customer likes it then thats a good product for that customer. it may not sound good to us but if he/she likes it then thats what counts. if no one liked them then the company wouldnt be around as long or have the money to buy up other established car audio manufacturers. i personally own lanzar amps, a vibe1200d and a vibe 420 and audiocontrol processors and 2 audiocontrol eq's playing thu infinity speakers and subs.  i love the sound quality. these are both very good, solid amps with no problems after 1 1/2 years of use. lots of people bash lanzar as being flea market trash and china imports, but many people on car audio forums love these and will testify to the quality and actual RMS ratings tested in labs. this is why im sticking up for power acoustik. any way here are the specs from poweracoustik.com.

No, it's not a typo.  The www.SPLUSA.com website lists the Vas for these woofers as 0.5 on one page and as 0.6 on another page.  Crap ratings.  I do not believe for one second that they will do more than make noise.

And you are correct, if you like the sound then it doesn't matter who make the equipment.  One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Power Acoustik, SPL, Lanzar, Boss, Pyle, Pyramid, Mobile Authority, Recotron, Audiovox, Legacy, Performance Teknique, Soundstorm, Rockwood, etc. are all WAY below my personal expectations for quality and I could never use nor recomend them to anyone.  But if they float your boat, then go for it.

If you want a good quality 12" sub that sounds decent, can do more than simply generate SPL and will list realistic ratings, listen to MTX, Dayton, Phoenix Gold, Alpine S, Infinity Reference, Blaupunkt or several other well-known and established brands.  Many mainstream manufacturers offer under-$100 12" subs, so you don't have to resort ot the flea market.  At least with these you will be able to believe the ratings and know they are not knock-offs of someone else's designs built in a sweat shop with the brand name slapped on after the fact.

hey dyohn the link you gave doesnt work. these and the other products are not meant for audiophiles. the ears of most folks arent tuned to hear the sound quality of some more expensive brands. or price is their main concern. ive installed or heard most of the brands you listed and some sounded surprisingly good to ok and others were really bad. but the customer loved it. there are gems made by many of these companies with good components, but you have to find them. that's why i dont like blanket statements about a brand because of a personal bad experience with one of their models. on some other forums i hear Boss has some decent amps in their new IQ line. power acoustik class d amps do very close to their rms and have fully regulated power supplies. their 3000w was reviewed by psmag.com and it pushed 2200w at 14v and drew 190 amps. thats not bad for $340.00

Oops sorry, it should be www.splusa.net.

You are absolutely correct, hookmeup.  Sorry for the blanket statements.  I too have been surprised by things like Crunch Blackmax series of amps, when I usually call Crunch crap too.

The real bottom line to all this:  Although you ALWAYS end up getting what yu pay for, LISTEN to equipment before yu part with your hard earned cash, and buy what sounds good to you no matter what snobs (like me) say!  :)

Yea, I was impressed with them for the price.  Much cleaner than the old Crunch line and pretty accurate ratings.  Hifonics is better, but for a bargain system Blackmax could be a winner.  My #1 choice for low cost amps, though is still US Acoustics.
