if i paint my xm antennae to color match my car,will i lose some recepton.i saw a few hondas and mercedes this way from the factory

I think as long as you don't use a metal based paint you'll be alright.  But I could be wrong.

Usually if you paint an anteanna it results in a 1db loss. atleast for GPS units, should be same for XM

If i were you, i wouldnt worry about it.  Without knowing any facts or details or doing any tests, it seems to me that if a signal can come from at least a couple hundred miles away, it should be able to go through a layer of paint.

put a piece of paper over it and see what happens.

Many of the new XM antennas from TERK are paintable.  You shouldn't have a problem
