one last question.... can you connect 1 channel to one coil and the second to the other coil for a stable 2 ohm load at 230 a piece?

This is not recomended due to the differences between amplifier electronics and voice coil irregularities.  Plus, since each coil is 4-ohms, you will operate at the 4-ohm per channel rating, which is the same as 8-ohms total bridged.  If you must use a DVC 4-ohm speaker, and that Kenwood amp, then running bridged into 8-ohms is by far the best setup.  Again, get a SVC 4-ohm speaker for best results with that amp - or get a different amp.

I ran two Perfect 12.1s for about 4 years until one of them finally gave up and blew. The last two years of that paralleled on a JBL BP1200.1. So I did what anyone would and bought two more to replace the blown one. Now I have three of them paralleled on the BP1200.1 and love it.

I found this on crutchfield. Is this true?

Also called DVC speakers. For subs, they provide two pairs of inputs allowing you to drive one sub with two amp channels, or let you wire the voice coils in parallel or series to reconfigure the speaker's impedance. For full-range speakers, it allows you to drive the speaker's mids and highs with one amp, and the lows with another. ( Back )
