Go on ebay and get some 8000 series MTX aluminum cone version. They were top of the MTX line last year and can now be had a a major discount. The 10" single 4ohm voice coil # is T8104a

actually they werent the top of the line mtx subs from last year and even so the 7500's or competion series (depends on where you buy them from as to what they are called) are actually a superior sub. Power handleing is rated at 100 watts less but I can say from experience that they actually will handle more power and play louder than the 8000's. You could also look at the Superwoofer from MTX this year. It would still be in the price range, Has a meaner looking magnet structure than any of the other subs mentioned and will run perfectly fine off of 300 watts rms. Remember that the Superwoofer and competion woofers are only avalible in single voice coil forms where as the 7500 and 8500 are avalible in both svc and dvc. In MTX svc and dvc do not change the power ratings at all, they just offer more wiring options.

The 9500's were out last year as were the RFL's. Both were higher end models. The 9500's were released after the original product launch but are still considered as part of last years line and carried over to this year. The RFL's are still the tp end SPL sub by mtx but cant be used for regular listening

I did not necessarily mean exactly last year, but the last series before this current run. So I am correct about the 8000 series being the best (Not Including the RFL)   available from MTX before the 7500,8500,9500 series.

I personally use 3 8000 series and hace been extremely pleased with them. I would also highly recommend them. When I replace them next year, I will buy the 9500's at a major discount because they will have released the next bigger and better series. Like all companies do. I stay a year or so behind the current trend because it makes no sense for me to pay way more just to have them "right now"

In the last series there was no 9000 if thats what you are trying to get at. Also if I remember right you drive a truck and have them under your seat right? If you do then good luck ever trying to get 9500 to fit under the seat. Also remember that when they ask for 750 watts rms a piece Thats not a max rating but what they want to preform properly. They will handle far more bt in reality must have that much power to make it worth while. I can also tell you that there are no plans to replace the current subwoofer line for till after next year. So you probally wont find those things at a discounted price till sometime in very late 2005 or early 2006 so I hope you can wait. If you wanna replace your subs with something better, I would suggest the 8500's to you. While I totally agree the 8000 are awsome subs the 8500's are in a whole new league and will be a big upgrade from your current drivers.

They are in my mercedes. Here is a link to check out some pics.

Mine are fine and should be the same when I sell them. I have no problem waiting until the 9500's price drops. My 1200.1 was hand picked with a certificate of 1650 watts and I run them parallel for 1.33 ohms. No heat problems or anything and I use them heavily. It's hard to tell from the pics, but I built my amp rack with a place to mount one more 1200.1 above for later.

Do you have any personal experience with the Type-X's? I have a friend who is considering them.

I forgot to add that I built my enclosure to fit Brahma mark II's or JLw7's, so the 9500's have plenty of room.
