Did you ground the BLACK/ white small gauge wire, nuetral safety switch wire on the alarm? This must be grounded or the remote start will not activate at all.

Yep, got it grounded with the rest.  I can't imagine what is wrong with this thing.  I know I said I wasn't working on it until tomorrow, but here it is 11:30 and I'm back in the garage staring at it!

Did a little test:

With the remote start sequence started, I tried to send 12v straight to the starter wire (yellow) and got NOTHING.  With the key "on" I can do this and trigger the starter and start the truck.  But with the remote start sequence going, I get nothing.  What the #$%^&?!?

Never been so confused in all my days!

Thanks for all the help guys!

I know some of you have installed on an 02 up Ram, tell me what I've done wrong!

This may be a long shot but I have seen it happen. Verify the colors of the ribbon cable to the way it is in the book, left to right. Also check the fuses on the remote start harness.

Fuses have been checked, more than once! ;) I've also looked at the ribbon cable (r/s relay pack ) vs the inst. guides descrip.  Appears to be the same.  Starting to look like the $200 (local shop) install charge may have been worthwhile!

First time in my life I've had something refuse to work when every peice of documented data says it should.  I'm going to start researching different wire guides now.  Can't help but think it's missing an ign. wire somewhere.

Thanks for all the replies, we'll win this thing together!

Where you at?
Try swapping the start relay with the starter kill relay.

I'm in Tyler, Texas.  Thanks for asking!

I thought about the bad relay thing earlier today.  Was going to swap it with the dome light relay I had wired up, but found the pin config. to be different and mine wouldn't work with the DEI realy "harness".  At one point I was certain it was a bad relay, now I have my doubts.  With the remote start sequence started, I put 12v to the yellow (starter side) and failed to get a "crank over".  But with the key in the "on" position, the same results in a started engine.  Seemed strange to me.  Combined with the fact that the fuel pump never starts during the r/s leads me to think there is a wire missing somewhere.

I know from anohter Dodge forum I visit that there are over 70 diferent ECM programs for the 03 Hemi...could it be there are different wiring configs also?!?

Stuck in the garage,

i'm almost positive that what you've described indicates that you have yet to connect another ignition or accessory wire. have you tried to hot-wire start your vehicle yet using the wires you've chosen? if you can't then your missing something. everything that comes live when you turn your key needs to be duplicated by the remote starter. after all, that's basically what a remote starter does.....it's a mechanism of hot-wire starting your vehicle that will function when you press your button on the remote.

Thanks Jimmee, I think you're right.  I've found two variations of wire guides for the Ram.  Pretty interesting, the first (from Directwire) is the way I have it now and the other is from DesignTech

Directwire:

12volts pnk/blk & RED / wht  +  ignition harness
Starter yellow  +  ignition harness
Second Starter N/A
Ignition blue (16 awg)  +  ignition harness
Second Ignition red or RED / wht  +  ignition harness
Third Ignition N/A
Accessory green & orange  +  ignition harness
Second Accessory blue & blk/wht  +  ignition harness

Design Tech:

Function

Vehicle  Color

Location

Start:

YELLOW

IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

Ignition  #1:

BLUE (16 AWG)

IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

Ignition #2:

RED

IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

Ignition  #3:

GREEN & ORANGE (2 WIRES)

IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

Accessory:

BLACK/ WHITE & BLUE (2 WIRES)

IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

Okay, sorry for that mess, I wonder why it lookedperfect when I previewed it?!?

Anyway, I have it working now.  Thanks for ALL the help!  It was the small blue wire, I tested it with my DMM while key starting to confirm it did need 12v on start up.  Using directwires guide the small blue is not mentioned, but design tech's guide does list it and even haas a note at the bottom about it.  All appears to be good now, guess everyone was right.  Newbs need two days to do an alarm + r/s.  I thought I could do it in 6 hrs... 2003 Dodge Ram Remote Start - Page 2 -- posted image.
