I did one long time ago, its acualty pretty smart idea. Why stop at door lock/ door operns who be the first one to wire it up to the starter. Hidden switch to open door - Page 2 - Last Post -- posted image. im some one will if not done it already.

That device does not work consistently, as I have installed five of them. Just another toy, which doesnt work very well.
As it was stated before, using a reed switch is simple and direct approach to your problem.

The only problem with the "Tap Magic" is your around anybody all they have to do is listen to how many taps you hit and they have your code

You can't simply tap into the wiring for the actuator with a switch. You will need to add one or more relays to activate it. You would have to determine which wires do what on the relay to figure out how to wire them up.
