btw- how much would it cost to get a new communication module and new alarm brain wiring harness???

Did you wrap the communication module with tape so that the circuit board is not grounding out on anything metal ? The system is probably in valet ( according to the LED ). You have to manually get out of valet and if the communication module wasn't damaged , the remote control should start to operate the system again. BTW: Did you cut off the resistor on the communication module ? Do this for extended range Aladdin 2000 problem! Please help! jeff?? -- posted image.

actually i think my circuit board was grounded because when i plugged the module to the brain my alarm would chirp. but now my remote doesn't work with the alarm anymore seeing that the remote tells me it can't reach anything (beep beep beep) even though the module is connected. once i took the module out of ground it didn't beep when i pluged it into the brain like it did when it was grounded.... you think my module is fried?

Is the module in valet mode by chance ? You said that the LED is constantly on and that means that it's in program mode ( doesn't do anything but beep ). Try going through the valet mode exit sequence and post your results.

I would say that it's a warranty piece then. Put the communication module back together and send it back to the shop that you got it from or send it to the manufacturer.

I know this is an old post. I have seen this happen on a Impulse alarm i installed (P.O.S.). I called the company and the tech told me to disconnect the 12V and Acc wires and touch them back and take them back loose to reset the whole thing. Then go into program mode and it worked fine.

This should save time instead of sending the whole thing back ya know?

Oh, my buddy has an Aladdin. HE loves it! Sounds like a winner I think. Thanks Jeff!!!!

This would work but the communication module that the Aladdin has is GROUND sensitive and if for any reason the board grounds out.... your SOL. The Impulse only uses a dipole antenna and does not contain a circuit board of any sort. You can try this and see if it works ( don't get me wrong ) I've seen weirder stuff, but becareful..... the communication module is already damaged... you don't need to be sending in the CPU.............

Hey Accrodfreak....... forgot to ask you that when you pressed the programming button, did you have the car ignition ON or OFF ? The module only responds to commands when it is ON for valet purposes.
