You probably heard beeeeeeep because the distortion was so high. Above a certain decibel level our ears can't hear distortion at close range, but the distortion and volume still do damage to our ears.
People buy higher end brands because if it is truly quality stuff it will be better at reproducing what the artist recorded.
I think it is generally a good idea to buy a nice front stage, 90% of your music will come from those speakers.
Having said that, you're right, no one NEEDS better stuff. We WANT it. :-)

I plan on paying around $250 for one pair of components. I dont think i should switch out my 3 way pioneers in the back 2 doors. So im gonna go ahead and leave them there and just power them by an amp. Is all this ok?

My only advice is to go to your local car stereo store and LISTEN to all the speakers they have in your price range.  Take along your favorite CD and LISTEN to the differences from one brand to another.  Buy the ones that sound best to YOU regardless of what anyone has to say.  It's you who has to live with it, eh?
