Hey I was hoping you guys that know FG could help me on this little project. I need to make a hollow FG ball about 20 inches in diameter. Must be a perfect ball. the surface doesn't really have to be smooth so I don't plan on using body filler. Hope you guys have suggestions on how to make one!
Thanks in advance guys!

Make a wood frame, pull fabric over the whole thing, hang from a wire.
Staple the fabric down, and then coat, and lay fiberglass then that's it.

Get one of those beach balls that walmart has in those cages (toy section), glass over it leaving an access hole, then let it cure...when it's dry pop that sucker and pull the ball's skin (hah I said ball skin) out of the access hole, glass the hole over and then you have a hollow fiberglass ball! The idea looks good on paper eh?Think you know FG? -- posted image.

Thats a dang good idea,  I would have said wood structure too.  But if the plastic ball from wal mart works that would be cool.  Wonder if he can find one 20 inches in diameter though?

it will not work very well! the FG chemical will warp the plastic ball, you will have to tape it all up or wrap it in foil.  you might find a ball that has a thick enouh plastic you might get lucky and the FG hardens before the ball warps.....but i doubt it.  good luck!

Yeah I was just wondering if you might have to cover it in foil, almost edited my post, but I didnt. Dang, should've done it.

Well, why does it need to be fiberglass? There has to be easier ways to get a 20" ball.

Hey thanks guys! The ball can be made out of anything if you have suggestions. But I thought Fg would be strong and easily made. This is going to be part of a Top Secret project that you guys might see at CES, hopefully if I can figure out this ball. I don't think making a wouldn't frame would make a perfect ball... I think that beach ball might work, guess i'll just have to wrap it with lots of foil. I was thinking of maybe using foam or making 2 half spheres then connecting them together...
Please keep the suggestions comming if you have more I appreciate it!
