What are the chances of setting up some kind of real time Java chat client on here. I was just sitting here thinking about how many people are online on this forum at  a time and that it might be a useful tool esspecially when you have an installer working on a customers vehicle and they are stumped. Being able to simple ask the question and get an imediate response whether anyone new the answer or not. I havent done any kind of web design or updating for like 4 years so I honestly dont know whats required to pull this off and what kinda stress it puts on the server. Its just a random thought.

Hi Ravendarat, this topic has come up many times. It will be some time before we have a "real time chat client" running on this site for several reasons, but there are several alternatives. Here are few of the other chat topics: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=42272 , https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=27919https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=6926

LOL, in the last post on that list you wrote     "beerstud136, it's already on my "to do" list. I don't have an ETA on it yet, but I'll try to have it up and running within the next couple of weeks, most likely after the holidays" which is dated December 20, 2002. Funny how things get piled up and pushed back huh. I just thought it was kinda funny.

True... but the problem is with server resources. The application I wrote works fine for a small number of users, but wouldn't work well at all with the potential number of people that could be logged into to it at one time. Again, there are several other chat rooms that can be used now until I get something up and running here, but don't count on it anytime soon ;)
