The car will not shut off, and even if it did, passlock I does not have a timeout feature like passlock II so the car would be able to start right back up. But like I said that is if the car shut down but it wont. Once the car is started successfully and is running, the passlock will not shut the car down if the wire is cut. That is how you measure the resistence in the first place. start the car, cut the yellow wire and then measure the resistence. The car does not shut off. The security light comes on when the wire is cut during the resistence measuring, but it will not come on when the relay shuts off since the break in the wire will be just a small fraction of a second.
If you are still not convinced you can add a third relay that would latch turning the ground when running wire from the Remote Starter into a constant ground as long as the ignition remains ON during and after a remote start.

off topic.....but when ever someone starts a thread with the word "cavalier" or "sunfire"

it always become the most responded and/or viewed.

then you ask yourself......I wonder what those people are driving?

Sorry but those are the worst cars ever built and that is all you see on the road today.

p.s. I hope I don't get anyone mad.....This is just an opinion

Hey slicksam I totally agree with you I can't even get in and out of those cars they are definately built for people shorter than 5ft. Passlock Cavalier - Page 2 -- posted image. The car actually belongs to a friends daughter so you didn't get me mad.

Anyways I ended up trying another bypass before I tried the relay and resistor method that jrilla recommended and everything seems to be working fine now.

If you think these cars are bad I'd like to know what you drive. I have had a Cavlier for over two years and love the car. Any car has it's problem as does yours I'm sure. Just tell me what you drive and I'll poke wholes through it too. If you know what your doing and work on the cars right they are the most reliable and well built cars on the road. That might just be one clue as to why so many people own them.

Passlock Cavalier - Page 2 -- posted image.Don't know abouot you guys but I use the PLXR for the Passlock I vehicles and it works great for me. If all else fails, using a resistor and relay is great ................... if you have the time to do that.

Are you a women?......I never said that car is no good.

I said everyone buys these cars cause there CHEAP, you said you had it 2 years...lucky you......wait 2 or 3 more years then you will see. This just goes to show you how many cavaliers are out there.....next time you drive down the road.....count, just for fun.  splurge that extra 20 or 40 dollars a month and get yourself a real car like a honda civic. You know something, i think the cavalier goes for about 12.000.00CAD maybe more or less not sure exactly, if you get into an sccident and that car flips over......that car is scrap, cause the total estimate might surpass the cost of the car.

here this is what i drive..make fun of this if you can

I speak the truth..sorry for any cavalier owners, I am an installer and I heard stories of these cars

A real car like a civic? yeah right. you know how many of those we have endless prblems with. talk about a cheap car. you even touch the dash the thing falls apart. We've had to replace endless dash pieces because the dash peices break so easily. Not to mention the quality of the rest of the car. Every time we get one in it's leaking something, usually oil. And your car is just another crappy ford ranger. I had a ford and had nothing but problems. My friends have owned them and hated it. So yes, I don't like your car either. If you have only heard stories you really can't make a judgment. You never even worked on the car so how would you know. Why do you guys have to act like you know it all. I come on this site to get feedback for new ideas and then I find you guys bashing my car. I don't go around bashing others cars unless they ask for it. I've worked endless hours on my car and I bet it functions ten times better then yours plus the fact that it does ten times the stuff.

Hey mladams I never said the car was bad I just said I can't fit in them because of my height. I would also agree with you that EVERY CAR  has had some issue with it in its lifetime none are perfect. I have owned 2 honda's and cars and trucks from the big three all had something go wrong when I owned them. Also I believe any car is only as good as how the owner treats it and maintains it.

My truck is crappy?.....Did I hear you right?...buddy, I don't want to start an argument, but you just did.

I don't want to give my truck the best rating, but you wanna compare your GM to my ford ranger?

first off....I can drive over your GM and in the snow....I would eat you up. compare the price tag from your gm to my ford...even better compare a toyota corolla to your gm......That gm you have is the CHEAPEST on the market today. Have you noticed lately what people are starting to drive.......FORD AND DODGE, there coming back strong in looks and power and I always said it that the JAPENESE CARS are well built.

sec...quote from you"You never even worked on the car so how would you know", I never said nothing to you to insult your intelligence....and I have been an installer and a troubleshooter for 12 years....I have some dealers calling ME to try and fix some of there cars.

third....I had a 93 civic dx coupe 5 speed......I NEVER had 1 problem with that car and I pushed that car to the limit(who knows I might of gotten lucky)

I picked a civic cause there decent cars.....now I could of picked toyota corolla(some car in that category) go ahead bash that car to.

and last anther quote from you "I've worked endless hours on my car"   NEED I SAY MORE....I REST MY CASE
