Sadly my old shop sold Boss on the side for those finacially poor, or technically challenged.  A BOSS amps couldn't hit a correct bass note period, tight crisp bass that makes you hurt inside was just smoothed out into one big signal, completely ruining any reason as to why you would buy subs in the first place.  We have time and time again matched a 2000 watts boss amp up to a tiny alpine MRD-M300, and the alpine rocked the hell outa the boss in every aspect, and it sucked half the power of the boss.

Trust me, look into a better amp, maybe save up another $100 and you will make your friend piss his pants seeing what a real amp can do.

Try to find a JBL 600.1, if you can find one for sale, get it!! I have it and its a great amp, doesnt draw power excessivly either. I also found this great deal: http://www.thezeb.com/p-Autotek-SS-550.2-2-Channel-Amplifier-100627.htm
If you go with a amp that is much more powerful than those you will need to upgrade your alternator, if you have the money and are willing to do that i can recommend some more powerful amps for ya.

Listen to these guy's man. I myself am a budge minded audio freak but, I have found ways to get the equiptment that is the best for the money. Check out E-Bay. I buy alot of audio equiptment on there and when I want to up grade, I also sell the old equiptment that I have on there. I recently bought a MTX Thunder 6500 mono amp from a reputable seller on E-Bay for $135 and man does that amp kick your Ass. I have it running 2 MTX MZX1004's that I also bought on E-Bay for $100 brand new. The setup hits so hard that it makes your heart skip a few beats. Stay away from the cheap stuff as it is for one unreliable and 2 as stated preiously they are way over rated on thier power specs and they shound like Sh*tttttttt.
