I think it's pretty much impossible to only replace the surround on the W7s. You would probobly have to recone it completely. I'd call JL and see what they want to recone it.

You will have to find/buy a high roll surround specifically for the W7 or else you will introduce an element of decreased complience in the suspension. Which would limit the SPL.
I suggest the you call JL tech support, or check out their website. Usually manufacture's will supply you with what you need.

See thats what I thought. I really don't see JL coming off of surround when they can refuse to sell them and make more money buy either reconing themselves or replacing the speaker. If it's gonna be $100 for the speaker and $350 for a surround, I don't see any point in buying that one. I'll just chill with the one I have now, until I get around to getting something that suits my needs better.

It probobly wouldn't be 350 just for a surround...that would be a complete recone probobly. It's a pretty good deal if you they give you can get a recone for $350....they sell 12" W7s around here for like $750 new.

Hmm, It sounds like JL is trying to screw it's customers.
I have had personal experience with a few companies about replacing surrounds, and they didn't give me any trouble about it.

I can get 'em brand new for $500 so I don't just don't see the point in fixing one for $450. Besides I don't think I'm gonna stay with JL. Its a wonderful speaker but one of em aint gonna do what I want (make me sick to my stomach) and I can achieve that for less $ with other brands.
