I am a complete noob when it comes to car audio, i am trying to simply instal a stereo to my car, i have removed my radio cassette player. im looking at the wires and connections from my cars power supply and im looking at the new stereo wires and im thinking sh*t there not the same connections and the wires are different colors. so...
i have a Renault clio the stereo is a SONY CDX s2200
so far i have worked out that there is a ground wire, 12v constant and 12v switched and speaker wire from the stereo. the other wires are not of concern... i think >_< (im not thinking about the amp, sub ect)
from my car there is also the same wires, but they are different colors and have a different connecter. i thought ok what if i cut the car power wires and join them to the stereo wires that makes sense! but i feel like i might be doing something wrong. any advice about how to wire the power from my car to the stereo? i dont want to blow the fuses or get electricuted thanks
i have a feeling this question cant be asnwered that easily without seeing my equiptment, but its worth a try

Buy a multi-meter! or test lamp. one of those spare wires is ILLUMINATION / not needed. but dims screen when lights are on.

how olds the car? have the wires in the car been chopped B4? what area do you live in?

Dude,...If the wiring from the car is standard it would have plugged straight in? I hate it when someones been in there & cut everything, REACH FURTHER IN IS THERE MORE CONNECTORS?

Renaults have ISO connectors, top plug is for the 4 speakers, 8 pins l/r-.l/f-.r/f-.r/r-. &++++under!

then theres the same 8 pins on the 2nd connector s/p. n/a. e/a. +15. under: t/m. +30. ill. neg.

the clips are staggered so you can't plug in the wrong connector. Every stereo you buy here has ISO's.

i plugged the stereo right in, how stupid that i didn't notice that. i guess no one replied becuase it was too basic of a task. thanks for letting me figure it out myself.

i finaly got a mp3 plyr for my car, iv got two 3 inch 8watt speakers in the front, there BADASS!! well actualy they suck!
i want a nice sound in my car eventualy, but for now i only want to fit 2 50watt speakers in the front.
I have a clio 96, the factory speakers are located under the fans on the left and right. the space in there is very small, too small for 50watt speakers i think. so i need advice about where the best place is to put them and how i can achieve this.
(i am a noob when it comes to car audio, any help would be very much apreciated)

Put them in the doors. You'll need to cut out holes for them and run new wires through the door boot ( if applicable ) and then run it to the back of the deck.

yeah i had thought of that, it seems like the logical thing to do. i have more questions, how do i cut the hole in the door? what kind of speaker wire should i use? do i disconnect the factory speakers and use the same wire to connect to the new speakers? thanks

First you have to remove the door panel and trace out the inner speaker ring so that the magnet passes through the door panel. Re-install the panel and trace out the shape onto the door and use either a jig saw with metal blade, air recipricator or the old tin snips. *** Make sure before you even cut a hole into the door panel that the area that you choose will allow the window track to move freely and that the hole doesn't end up taking out a support for the door/window brace.

I would say use at least a 14 gauge wire ( if not larger ) and run it straight to the back of the deck. Once you pass through the door with a new wire wrap the wire in electical tape and use split tube looming to protect it fromt he elements.
