Remember the prices they are showing are listed as MSRP.  The actual selling prices will be set by the dealer network.  And I agree: at the previous factory direct price of $499 the Tumult was the best subwoofer bargin on the planet.  Even if the MSRP holds up, this sub will compete with drivers costing three times as much and will sound better, IMO.

Well, almost all the specs changed. All of Adire's drivers have been updated. They are not the same driver.
Importantly, you should realize where the new Shiva fits. It was designed as a very versatile and high value woofer line. They want folks to throw the new shiva in a box and be happy with the results. To that end, the new Shiva line is slightly more efficient and works in smaller boxes than the old Shiva line. By my calculations, for example, the new Shiva 12" is now comfortable in box sizes under 1ft^3. The old Shiva really wasn't Shoot, under .7ft^3 achieves a Qtc around 0.9. Pretty good for a 12! The old Shiva was at a Qtc of 0.9 at around 1.15ft^3. Box sizes for ported enclosures are smaller in the same way, making the Shiva line more versatile in-car.
I have no doubts that the build and sound quality will meet and exceed that of the old Shiva.
