The 2005 uses a new form of PATS and you will need a different system than the 2003. I use the PKF3 that directly hooks into the PATS wires and doesn't require you to loose a key in the installation & have had 0 problems with any of the customer's vehicles that it was installed into.

ok,i bought a viper 791 and the pkf-3 for my 2005 f150.couple questions.

1)the sheet that came with the pkf-3 does not have a little check mark next the 2005 f150,but does have a check mark next to the 2004,so before i even begin,is it going to work on my 2005??

2)it says i need the tx and rx of my ecu, where are these and does anyone have the color and locations i can grab them at?

the tech sheet shows what the tx/rx/gd/ign wires SHOULD be depending on what your plug at the transponder ring on the key cylinder looks like...at least i know that's how the PKF and PKF2 work on '00 Expedition and '03 Focus.

BTW, I've yet to get the PKF or PKF2 to program for the Expedition and Focus I just mentioned.  Not sure if it's user error or bypass module incompatibility, but I've had to use a spare key in a universal bypass on both those vehicles.

oh,so if i had a "type a" plug i would just wire it up to those same wires that it shows?do i just splice into them,or do i actually cut any othe wires?there really is no installation instructions at all.just a chart that shows the plugs.

You should be able to get to the wires without removing the seat . The bypass for remote start is 556S, 555U, or 556U. These are DEI part numbers.
