Hi guys Im new here and hopefully you can help me along the way with questions and any problems I run into.  I bought a Compustar 2WSS-AS alarm and will be installing it inot a 2004 Chevy Cavalier LS Sport Coupe which has an OEM alarm and keyless entry.  I would have a local shop do it but they want $400 for the install.

This will be my first alarm install.  My knowledge of wiring is installing HU's and I did uninstall my basic Python alarm out of my old 97 Cavlier. No power locks or anything. Im a DIY . 1)saves alot of money 2)learn alot 3)you know things are done right and secure.  But alarms are new to me so I want to make sure im doing things right no matter how long it takes me.  I've been doing alot of searching to see what I can find and learn.

I will not be hooking up the remote starter for the car because I really dont need it and I dont want to hassle with it.  So for now I'll leave it be.  Now on to my questions.  Is there any special bypass I will need (remember not installing remote start)?  I heard i might need one for my power locks or something? Also will I need any relays?  If I need any of these things can you point me to which model I will need.

Thanks Ryans

Thanks that list should help.  My car does have keyless entry so it looks like the only special thing i need to do when hooking up my alarm is to diode isolate the - door trigger for both driver and passenger door.  When i hook the diodes up should i wrap it up in electrical tape so no bare metal is showing?  Also is there anything else i might of missed that i need to do?  Thanks again.

I installed the same compustar alarm on my 2000 Honda Civic and I was told that I had to hook up the remote start for the system to work correctly.  I have not had any problems except that the antenna I was sold was faulty and only worked in weather below 40%. But I sent it back and got a new antenna and it works great.  It really is not that much work to hook the remote start since you need to feed the siren wires and hood senser wire through to the engine comparment anyway.  While you are doing that you just need to feed through the tack wire at the same time.  Good Luck!

Ok i finally got my alarm today and i've been matching up my wiring connections from my alarm to car wiring.  First off what does BCM stand for?

Now i have some wires that i have no idea to what wire to connect them to in my car.

yellow/black wire on the main wiring harness thats coming out of the starter kill relay?

black wire from - status output

WHITE/ black wire from - 2nd accessory output

violet/black - trunk trigger input aka trunk sensing(connect to - trunck/hatch pin or - trunck/hatch release?)

RED / white -door trigger input

red + door trigger input (not use this one?)

violet/white - trunk ouput aka trunk unlock

ORANGE / black -2nd pulse unlock aka 2nd unlock output (says use this wire and isolate drivers door actuator from rest of doors.  how do i do this and where is the actuator? is it the door trigger thing using the diodes?)

blue - unlock output (+power unlock or 5wi unlock motor?)

blue/black - lock output (+ power lock or 5wi lock motor?)

orange -rearm output

ORANGE / white -disarm output

violet -dome light output (says automatic transmission only. dome light is turned on for 1min after unlock.  I have a manual does that mean dont hook it up?)

Aux 1 and Aux 2 (do i just leave alone)

All these wires I dont know what to hook up to if i even need to hook up some of them.  So can you guys help me out and let me know what i should hook them up to thanks.  I really appreciate all the help.

Not totally familiar with the Compustar 2WSS-AS, but some of the info you have should go like this:

BCM = Body Control Module

VIOLET / Black =

Trunk Pin SwitchBLACK (+)AT LIGHT IN TRUNK

RED / White =  ( Diode Isolate )

Dome LightDR- LT GREEN/ BLACK (-)PASS & REAR- LT BLUE (-) AT BCM *

RED = XXXX

VIOLET / White = ( Relay needed to convert to 12 volts Positive )

Trunk ReleaseBLACK/ WHITEAT MODULE IN LEFT SIDE OF TRUNK

ORANGE / Black =  ( Relay needed to convert to convert Driver Unlock wire )

Drv Door UnlockTANDRIVER KICK PANEL

BLUE & BLUE / Black = ( Reversal Rest At Ground Door Locks )

Power LockLIGHT BLUEPASSENGER
Power UnlockWHITEKICK PANEL

ORANGE = XXXX

ORANGE / White = XXXX
VIOLET = ??? Not sure what Manual Trans has to do with it either )
Dome LightDR- LT GREEN/ BLACK (-)PASS & REAR- LT BLUE (-) AT BCM *

Door Trigger i need to use both wires lt GREEN/ black and lt. blue and diode isolate each. The wire should also be  (-) when door is open.
Trunk input wire should be (-) when open if 12v+ when closed use diode
Horn trigger should sound when key in off position if not need relay
Here are the connections i have so far from alarm to car Can you check to see if they're right.
Alarm Car
12v Constant 12volts red +
Starter Starter yellow +
- Ignition Ouput Ignition pink +
Accessory Accessory orange +
Parking Light Parking Lights + brown +
-Trunk Unlock Trunk/Hatch Release BLACK/ white -
Engine Sensing Tachometer white or orange Vac
+Brake Sensing Brake Wire white +
-EBrake Sensing Parking Brake lt.blue -

-Light Output use relay if output is 30-60sec. long
-Ignition Output Dont Use
-Starter Ouput Dont Use
-Hood Sensing Dont Use
-Glow Plug and +Glow Plug Dont USe
+Door Sensing Dont Use
+Siren + wire on siren

Be sure to follow instructions for Lock / UNLock

if your vehicle does NOT have Factory Keyless Entry it will require 2 SPDT Relays and wire as 5 Wire Reversal.
Otherwise it is ( + ) pulse

I have everything working right but i have a few questions on the door lock.  As quted abobe I DO have factory keyless entry.  So all i need to to is hook the [power lock lt.blue, to blue + lock output and power unlock white, to blue/black -lock output]?  Blue doubles as a -unlock output and blue/black doubles as a +unlock output (info. from wiring installation manual).

Also I have a question on the ORANGE / black (drivers door proirity unlock) wire from the alarm.  Do i convert the polarity with a relay?  If so which way - to + or + to -.  Also does this wire connect to the my Unlock motor (tan) from my car?   Thanks

The (-) trigger wire on the Compustar requires the use of relays for Type A and Type C systems.
