I'm looking to install 3 10" subs behind the rear seat of my F350 Crew Cab. The sub needs to be as shallow as possible. I am looking at the the JL Audio 10w1v2. Its only 4-3/8 deep. Any other ideas? Also, what amp would be good? If I got 3 4ohm subs, i'll need a 1ohm stable amp.

The rest of my system consists of:

HU: Alpine CDA-9855

Front Staging: Diamond Audio HEX S600a

Front staging amp: PG 475ti

Subs: ??

Sub amp: ??

www.reaudio.com look at the RE-series 10"s

I'm not sure about the mounting depth though, i'm sure its close to the JLs. For more info on the subs, just call RE up.

Diamond DS10D2/DS10D4 have a 4.8" mounting depth.

Alpine Type-R I beleive are pretty shallow as well.

Eclipse makes a shallow mount sub I think too, not sure which one it would be though.

I am sure there are more that I cannot think of offhand.

Are you looking for SQ or SPL? The stuff above is mostly SQ. Also why 3 subs instead of just two? 3 tend to make odd wiring combinations.

Alpine type Rs? Almost 6 in" deep. Go back to square one. JL's 10" W1V2 are by far the best sounding " shallow mount ", " small enclosure " sub out there. Use three 8 ohm tens for a 2.7 ohm load. I've done this to your truck and it sounds great.

I wasn't sure on the Alpine's, the website doesn't list mounting depth, niether do most others unfortunately. I use last years shallow mount Diamonds and like the way they sound alot, very comparable (to me at least) to the the W1V2s which I have heard in another truck.

It's all personal preferance of coarse.

Use the AVI SL500 sub for this application, it is what I use in the new trucks like this. If you cannot find one at a local dealer, send me a PM and I'll find it for you. Here is a link http://www.avisound.com/ with the following info on this sub.

Mounting depth has been substantially reduced by positioning two magnets within the chassis, instead of one on the back. Dual voice coils allow maximum flexibility and are wound on a composite polyamide former for high power handling and output. The cone material is deeply convoluted to increase its tortional rigidity, and the SL-500 front suspension is the first in the world to use anechoic rubber material, to provide improved definition.

This is a dual voice coil subwoofer driver with an extremely shallow mounting depth of just 92 mm (3.6"). It may be connected in parallel (2 ohms), series (8 ohms) or at 4 ohms each from two amplifier channels (not recommended). The suggested operating range is 45 to 430 Hz.

For "stealth" installations, the remarkably small enclosure required for the SL-500 dramatically increases the number of practical mounting locations in any vehicle.

I don't know, an all Canadian made subwoofer...

That's a really shallow mount depth though, and it only takes about 150 watts of power if I am reading the pdf correctly. I assume it is an SQ sub? Never heard of the company until you mentioned them.
