I got the Alpine SPR-17LS 6.5 components, to be powered by the us acoustics 2050.  $139 for the speakers and $77 for the amp.  Including the amp install kit I'm in for about $500.  And to think it started with the simple objective of hardwiring my ipod.  Although I guess even if I want to add a sub it will only cost me about another $200.

If everything goes well I will be installing on the 12th.  I think I have a handle on what needs to be done.  First time installing but does not appear to be to difficult.

Actaully I investigated this before I bought.  I have a 2002 jeep liberty.  The dash where the tweeters are located just pops right off.  The most difficult part from what I can tell will be running the speaker wire to the door  6.5's and getting the rca's from the hu to the amp under the driver seat.  Driver seat comes out real easy and I ordered the tool for the door panel removal.  Not sure how thats going to go but I don't think it will be that big of a problem.  I'm assuming getting the power cable to the battery won't be that difficult and drilling a hole for the ground no big deal.  Got me a fish tape for the wire pulls and an amp install kit on the way.  Hopefully be the a.m. of the 13th my ears will be bleeding.

One thing with the Kenwood (even my Excelon) it says (in the manual) that the RCA signal can be improved by turning off the built-in amp (it is like saying that the HU like mine will put out less than 4v if the built in amp is on).  So I'm taking the DMM to it as soon as I get home.

Yeah mine is still on and powers the back speakers.  The back sound really low even with the volume at 32 as compared to the fronts running off of the PUNCH AMP.

Good I was worried about that being a problem.  Either blowing them or having distored sound coming from the rear.

If you turn off the internal amp does any sound come out of the rears?
