Hey everybody,
Ok so i installed and old Alpine 9830. The bug has bit me and now i get to add car audio to the list of stuff i like to do!
Ok problem is. The deck wont power on when you want it too. After some time driving and messing with buttons it will power on by itself and work perfect. Then if you turn the vehicle off and back on it will still function. However if the car has been off for a period of 15-20 min its back to no power again. Has anybody run into this before? I have the red power lead fused and the ground to a ground lead with no noise.
What gives?alpine 9830 turns on when it wants - Last Post -- posted image.

Since it's an older deck try reseting it. Behind the faceplate there is a tiny red button. Push it in with a pin or paper clip for a couple seconds.

Well i guess it isnt that old. Its the new style with the reset on the front face. Thats a good idea but i tried that one and it didnt fix the problem. I cant figure this out. Ill tell ya the honeymoon was short with this one.

Ok well, i figured out what was wrong. Def a novice mistake but hey i am a novice soooo....
It was a problem with a power connector. Since i had decided i was replacing the deck with another model 9833 - 9835 or an XL Alpine i thought it would be more convinient to use scotch locks. WRONG! So i decided since i am still going to sell it i could deal with correct size wire nuts. Thats done the trick. Now i know most of you would like to beat me for useing connectors at all but im not too keen on soldering inside the car since i keep changing decks.
