Here's the deal.. I installed an automate AM6 with 555l in an 06 cobalt.. I tested all wires before hooking them up.. when you try to remote start the ign. powers up but no crank. I've tried relearning the Rcode several times, no luck.. I took out the 555l and hooked up relays to bypass.. still no luck.. one thing I did find though, If I insert the key in the cylinder and leave it in the off position, it will remote start.. this leads be to believe it needs the keysense wire hooked up but the keysense wire is also the Rcode wire.. Can anyone out there gimme a hand as to what I need to do.. dei doc. 1610 did not work for me, so ihave it hooked up like the doc. for colorados, 1601 I think.. anyway you can email at serialthrlla@msn.com
any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like You don't have the correct R ( resistance ) Code

I don't have good luck with the DEI units on a few GM cars...........

I use the OMEGA ByPASS:  IB-PLXR....... OR:
GM Maxx Transponder Interface: Malibu MAXX PASSKEY/ PASSLOCK (IB-G7)

also the car start with the key in the cylinder, in the off postition... coreect me if I'm wrong but doesn't the R code get created/sent when two contact pass each other when the key is turned..
I THINK I just need it to think a key is in, but the keysense wire is also the passlock wire.. Can I hook the staus output to it without it interfereing with the R code?

The 2006 model are equipped with both passloc and transponder. You will need to use a key head to override the security. Supose that if the ignition is present and the accessory turn off at crank the car will start without the passloc resistor.

this car does in fact have pk3+  not standard pk3 so if you use a bypass that is not a u- module make sure it is for pk3 +   a.k.a. circle plus   if you are going to use a U module a new style mailibu key will work if they are all out of the 06 cobalt keys. just make sure that the malibu key is for 04 or newer

Where did you get your R-Code wire from ? Make sure that you grabbed the ACC and IGN wire from the key cylinder.

Hey misterjimbo, do you know if this is the same as the '05 Pontiac Pursuits ? I'm wondering cause I use the PLXR for these systems and no problems for me.
