I was reading a little and i realized my tech who installed my alarm system is MECP certified
what does that mean?
and how good is it if it is a good thing?
is it "God-Like" status lol?

www.mecp.org -it's like the standard for mobile audio/video installs, and sales. go to the website for more details, (there are three levels for installing.)

MECP certification really doesn't mean all that much.  Big chain stores push for it, and provide training and such to make passing the test easy (Circuit City had several MECP-like tests in their web based training).  All good installers should be MECP certified, but just because an installer passed the test don't think that they are 'god like! MECP is what seperates the installers from the technician's. as far as your question MECP stands for ( Mobile Electronic Certified Professional)

Being Mecp certified you are book smart, but there's alot of stuff that you have to learn on your own, that the mecp book don't teach you.

MECP will teach you ohm's law, but won't teach you how to take apart a 2006 Jag, or Benz....or for that matter a VW bug. I would love to have the certification....if someone else would payHow good is MECP? -- posted image. till then.....I'm OK without it. I like forbidden, have worked with some certified IDIOTS.

I agree. Pretty expensive piece of paper that says you know something. I'll also go, if someone else is buying. I figure that after over 10 years, I'll be OK in the "how do I do this" category.
And yes... nothing like a FNG fresh outta MECP for some good entertainment/stress.
