Is this installed on a manual transmission.  Because if it is you have to push different buttons to do manual trans safestart so the car will shut off when you exit.  You might be turning on shortstop which will keep the car running while the alarm is armed.  Doesn't solve your tach problem but it is a place to start.  By the way there is always a single blue wire with a plug on it not connected to anything and taped to a harness under the hood on hondas which cliffords love for tach signals
