We used to carry Scytek solely based on price.  The units worked fine, we had to drop them because the remotes were a piece of junk.  We were sending 2-3 remotes/week into Scytek under warranty.  We even had 2 of the 2way remotes come out of the box where the lcd screen was broke (black ink like stuff all at the bottom of screen).  We had to give up on them and get something more reputable and reliable.

I have installed a few Scytec units,I just got 3 astra 1000's in the mail today.I haven't had any problems at all with these units,it all depends on how good they are installed-As far as the range of the remotes-they are about average.

If 600 ft is average, what would excellent be? Guess those would only be helpful with the two way units, or you wouldn't even know whether it responded or not.

does the RS1000 package cotain the relay block shown in the manual ot do we need to buy it seperate.
5-Pin Harness
Pin 1 ORANGE WIRE: Accessory Output for heater/air conditioner(negative) to activate external relay
Pin 2 YELLOW WIRE: Ignition 1 output (negative) to activate external relay.
Pin 3 VIOLET WIRE: Starter Output (negative) to activate external relay
pin 4 BROWN WIRE: Ignition 2 output (negative) to activate external relay.
pin 5 RED WIRE: +12V Power to external relays.
you can see all the polarities are negative.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's included, since they show it drawn in the diagram with all the output wire colors predefined. If they expected everyone to run out and buy their own relays, it wouldn't be very complete, and it'd be rather useless out of the box.
The manual does leave it ambiguous whether it's included, saying "Main control unit with wiring harnesses." I wouldn't normally consider the external relay block to be called a wiring harness.
