Hello.

I'd like to install a keyless entry system in my 2003 Civic EX. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good, inexpensive system to buy? I'd like the dome lights to turn on when the car is unlocked. I don't really care about a remote engine start, but if it's not much more expensive and time consuming, I'd take a security feature.

Also, can anyone provide a wiring diagram for me? Are the Civic's door locks positive or negative?

Thanks a lot!

Take a look at www.commandocaralarms.com , For just keyless entry look at the KE-30, for keyless entry and remote start look at the EZ-2200, for keyless entry and alarm look at the 520-S, and for all of the above look at the RS-560, they also have many other options, these are just a few. I provided direct links to each one mentioned.

KE-30  http://www.commandocaralarms.com/itemdetails.asp?Productid=1189

EZ-2200   http://www.commandocaralarms.com/itemdetails.asp?Productid=495

520-s  http://www.commandocaralarms.com/itemdetails.asp?Productid=1188

RS-560    http://www.commandocaralarms.com/itemdetails.asp?Productid=1186

I can also recommend other alternatives if these do not satisfy your preference.

J- I have several specific questions.

If you don't mind trying to answer, could you please email me at mary01@alum.bucknell.edu?

Thanks.

GREEN/ red, and the rear door trigger is GREEN / WHITE. *3 In the top left plug. *4 It is a 2 pin plug to the passenger side of the battery. *5 The PCM is behind the glove box. The vss is in a connector A (31 pins), pin 18. The vss is also blue/white at the cruise control module to the left of the steering column.

you do not need a security feature added since it already has an immobilizer from the factory.  Very easy car to install a keyless entry. It take me ten minutes to do.  To get the domelight to turn on it will do that automatically when you unlock the doors.  Nice factory feature.

for future reference, on the newer Civic's there is a GREEN/ red wire in a grey 2 pin plug (LX) or an 18 or so pin plug (EX) just behind the large grey plug and towards the firewall in the drivers kick. In the EX there's 2 plugs, it's the one behind. This wire catches all doors. (BTW the newer CRV's are virtually the same as the newer Civic's)

Also, the lock/unlock motor wires are right there next to the lock/unlock trigger wires in the same grey plug.

oh and Also, if you want a power trunk release, an Accord latch and motor bolts right on. 3 wires, ground, trigger and release . The Civic already has the ground and trigger, just need to run the release wire to the front. The plugs are not the same, but you can solder to the pins and make your own. Sounds tedeous, but it's pretty quick and easy.

You can get a power wire, (-) lights, ignition, and horn in the green factory alarm plug taped high up under the dash. Then you can get the (-) doorlock triggers just below it. Thats all you need for keyless entry. Really easy car to do a remote start in. Only part I hate is taking apart the steering column to get to the immobilzar wires. Its hard to do without breaking a clip.

JWorm, I don' t understand what you're saying. Do you mean that's all I have to connect a keyless entry system?

Thanks!

J (or anyone for that matter)--would you mind mailing me those documents you sent earlier? Please use this address: family@paonline.com   I just got the Commando 520-S and am ready to install it. I should have brought your directions with me. The ones included with the system look like they were translated from another language. Very confusing.

THANKS!
