Much like the N2 bypass only no soldering this time.  Should be fairly self explainatory once you get the sticker off

Good news and bad news.

The bad news: I've got 15 of the 103 WinRAR pieces posted to the public website so far. However, I've decided to hold off with the rest until I figure out what, if any, legal ramifacations I would face by posting the copyrighted software. The other bad news is that the programmer I gave the CNDV60MT software was not able to help much.

The good news is that he determined that it appears to be programmed in NEC (whatever that is!). Any ideas? I've got another programmer I'll be giving the disc to this weekend (he works for Motorola) so maybe he can figure it out.

i would have someone else up the rest of the files, or some of them to a different site, that way people will have to download the parts from different sites. If you put it all on one site then you can get busted buy distributing the full copy out, if its spread out then its the downloaders responsibility, since they took the action to create the file. single files are just useless data which they cannot go after you for.

explor202,

I thin knew that already...the problem is finding a disassembler for it...Idapro doesn't support the processor used for this application...although the instruction set is similar, it is not the same...I've seen this before, for instance the Motorola 6805 and SG Thompson chips are almost the same but not...Unless you can get a disassembler for it, we'd have to do it by hand, which could take a year.

Hopefully we'll find out soon enough. I emailed my contact the info on what I was looking for today. He let on enough in his email that he knew how the lockout feature worked originally and why Pioneer released the update. I think if this was a dead end, he would not have asked for me to give the disc to his wife to bring home tonight. Let's all keep our fingers crossed!

I purchased v60 East Coast DVD from eBay and will have it up on RAR Torrent for all those who want it by the end of the week. We all know the West Coast DVD is out on Torrent and I am seeding it at ~200k along with the v50 DVD's. Will probably keep them all up.

Just to update everyone, my source at Motorola seems to think he can make a "faux" 40MT disc but have it contain everything necessary from the 60MT disc. He now has both discs from me and will start working on it hopefully tomorrow. He noticed that it does not check crc or file size, only that the files exist.

The firmware is CRC checked. The crc is embeded in the firmware image itself.
