the post says "I purchased v60 East Coast DVD from eBay and will have it up on RAR Torrent for all those who want it by the end of the week. " im sure he will post the link as soon as he gets it up, be patient, that thing takes like 8 hours to rar up to begin with.

explor202, we know for fact that the firmware crc values are checked., so then a valid equivalent to the same value has to be derived.  For example, 5+5 = 10, but so is 3+7...as long as the result is 10, the application doesn't care.  The other problem is that there are specific pointers /indexes for the map data inside the app...If this not being the case, then moving the mapdata from the 60 mt disc to the 40mt disc would work...but it doesn't.  I suspected a while back that the switch for this was in the firmware, but now i suspect it to be in the rom... I will leave it at that until i research more.

The main reason the firmware file(s) are crc checked is so if the file is somehow corrupt it would not allow you to flash update. This is basically so it makes it harder to kill a unit. Saves them in unit repairs. This is a common practice in firmware files.  The problem is finding where the crc info is stored within the file as well as computing a new correct crc value for the modified firmware. I am sure this can be done however I don't have the time nor the skill to do it at this level. We need some expert crackers on this one.

Well, since I can't post the link, I'll try it this way. Has anyone seen an item for sale on a very popular auction website, where the guy is selling two relays, some harness and a toggle swtich? The guy is claiming that his setup will override the video lockout feature regardless of the model and software. I've never heard of such a thing and was wondering if it's just a scam to get your $30.00. Any ideas?

I have a theory about the two relay setup. It's something that I thought about a couple of weeks ago. With the CNDV60MT software installed, you can trick the unit momentarily by cycling a toggle switch that's inline with the park brake lead. If you could cycle the ground on and off at the correct rate, couldn't you effectively bypass the lockout?

Wow, you know what, I never thought of that. It just might work. Takes a few seconds to figure out its in motion so I wonder if it will fool it. A simple 555 timer circuit will test that theory. I might give it a go in a few days.
