Just a little COMMON SENCE goes along way when installing car steroe equipment. Just because your not a pro does not mean you cannot do it. I have installed several systems and have never burned up the first piece of wire. I have screwed up a fuse or 2 but that is about it. And those were completely my fault, had noting to do with the install.

Yeah, its basically common sence.  There is nothing difficlult about installing a basic audio system.  The little things like putting a gromet where the power wire goes through the firewall, remembering to use fuses, watching out where you drill, and put screws are the smallest details that can ruin an install or your entire electrical system.

Just let me say that i would in NO WAY install anything more than an AMP a few subs a new head unit and fronts.
ANYTHING beyond that, multiple amps, subs, batteries and so on should be done by someone who knows what they are doing, if you are an up and coming installer then that is how you learn.

I never have a dam camera on me when I get to fix stuff

I fixed a 98ish Ford with a din and 1/2 Pioneer in it with the sub dash all cut out so the new kit wouldnt snap in and with electrical and surgical tape wrapped around the wires

hoping I pass the 1st class for the first time on 5-18-6, wish me luck!

And I have a dash panel apart from a Hilux right now. Customer started to cut it to front mount his radio instead of ISO mounting it properly. One part heat, one part normal staples, get staples red hot and sink them into cut plastic and voila, something for bondo to stick to. Secure the backside of the staples, repaint the dash and all done.

Well, it is one thing for a person to start and attempt to do something on their own, stop and come in for help. Nothing wrong with that at all. However, the beauty job that came in today, by a professional, oooh.....scary.

Let's just drill the door jamb on the new vehicle as we are too lazy too pull out the molex and run the wire through it. Then lets use the black wire as the power wire and hook it to the positive terminal on the battery. Let's also make the sub box all wrong and not listen to what the customer wants. All the filings from drilling the doors were not cleaned up, now we have rust everywhere. Oh, look , the big box installer said that the Eclipse head unit being an 8 volt needs to run direct to the battery......amateur is too good of a word here. Jeff might post up some pics.
