please let me know what u professionals out there think is the best alarm and remote start system. it will be going in a 2001 chevy tahoe

please include  model #'s

p.s. has anybody used the alarm that takes pictures of the theif? if so is it any good or is it just a gimick.

I have found through my experience that Ultrastart is the most flexible, easy to use system. We use Ultra and Compustar at the shop I work at now, and if you want strictly range, go with compustar. If you want tons of features and programming that are logically setup with simple installation, great reliability and great retail warranty, go with Ultrastart.

Features: Constant lock output and trunk release validity outputs can be used for window automation on all units shock sensor and aux/prox sensor can be programmed and temporarily bypassed thru remote for less false alarms L.E.D.'s and program switch are built into antenna so they are highly visible and accessible w/o drilling holes            all onboard relays, so unit is compact and easy to make into a clean install

Thier remote starter/alarm combos work excellent, especially in your truck. If you go with remote start, make sure you get a "databus anti theft bypass". I use bypasskits.com for them, but as long as it is databus, it will not be capable of causing the truck to not start normally with the key.

Once you use this alarm, you will be hooked.

Ultra starts are one of the best security or remote start systems I've ever installed. Not one complaint ever. The new g-series 2way will be coming out soon range is suppose to be crazy good. My vote is for ultra..................

I have the Autopage 725lcd and nothing but good things to say about their product . Was it your install or someone else's? Seems like installer did something wrong or should have changed out  brain.

i will definatly look into the ultra start, i was thinking about DEI maybe.

kamronkjc :  i went over each wire of the install and it was perfect, the alarm was in the truck for a year before it started giving me this problem.  i sent it back to autopage and they kept it for a month and then sent it back saying it was fine. during the time it was at autopage the battery never died i put the alarm back and within 4 days the battery was dead again.  i don't think they even looked at the alarm.  when i got it back i went over the wiring again.

everyine else i am still open to suggestions  thanks

Sounds like you have a poor install with the autopage. I have installed over 20 of them with no issues, definitely no slow drains...
The RS-860LCD is what I would recommend and what I personally use..other than that, look at a professional DEI install..

DEI is my system of choice, however the problems with your Autopage unit are more than likely installation related. I have done many Autopage units, I do not care for the programming procedure but have never had one come back.

Ditto on the Compustar units and on the Ultra Starts as well.
