hmm, ok so if you can't go by manuf recommendations then how would you find out the proper size box to use?
When i build the box for my memphis I went buy what the specs sheet suggested.

You want to use a modeling program and the theile small parameters of the sub.  That way you can tune the sound to your preferences.

A perfect example was when I had to build a ported enclosure at work for a pair of MTX 10's (6500 series IIRC).  I modeled up the manufacturers specified enclosure and got a 7 dB peak at 53 Hz with a steep slope below that.  It's a great box for rap music, but won't sound good for many other types of music.  In fact to get a decent response I had to jump the enclosure size up to 8 cubes.

Thanks Steven that makes sense. The problem is, I have winisd or what ever it's called. None of the speakers I have/or want are lisited so I have to input the Manufacturer and I con't have a clue what half od the info is that it shows me.
