I think I might be confused by calling it vats, I am refering to the factory alarm system that came in the 89 corvette which if you had the doors locked and reached through the window and unlocked the car from the inside avoiding putting the key in the door (like keyless would) then the horn would honk etc.  I was just thinking that if I installed keyless then the factory alarm would go off, so I would have to do something to prevent this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Harvey

sorry I am a newbee to this kind of thing, saw that you use the lt green wire to disarm the factory alarm, However the alarm/keyless that I am looking at is the clifford arrow 5 and on the list of outputs that it has on the dei website it says that it does not have a factory disarm output?  What would I do in this case?  Thanks for all your help and advice.  Harvey

So if I use the unlock wire (-) from the alarm and I place a 1 amp diode inline from the unlock wire to the factory alarm disarm then I should be ok?  Do I need to put any other diodes in place?  Sorry I am really new to the use of diodes, but this sounds like a great shortcut to get this done.

u need 2, 1amp / to split  one wire going to unlock wire  and the other wire going to the disarm wire with the silver band facing the switches.
