stang.
"Speed of the woofer" or "transient response" generally means the time required to respond to changes in the signal, not the frequency of the signal itself.

Which is heavier: Pound of gold or pound of feathers.

Actually...the gold. Gold is measured on the Troy scale, only 12 ounces, but heavier.

What does this have to do with this thread? Absolutely nothing.

Sounds like a good Rodney Dangerfield joke: "I tried to stay at Motel 6, but they kept turning the light out on me...I get no respect!"

Okay...I'm done.

I have both 10's and 12's and can say that without a doubt, their speed directly mirrored that of the car. If I was going 100KPH they also went 100KPH, I could never seem to outrun them

hmm..

so everyone seems to say that a 12" could be as fast as a 10"... but not as clearly ?

10" for techno, 12" for hiphop, what if i listen both? can a 12 be as fast as a 10? - Page 2 -- posted image.

And what should i look for a good sub (material, cone, .. ?)

No. Ahhhhhhhh!
A 10" can be just as clear and just as fast and just as everything else subjective as a 12".
Whether a sub is "good" or not can't be determined by simply looking at its materials, its size, or even its T/S parameters.
Unfortunately, this is where brand name and reputation really does come into play. Does the manufacturer use good quality control? Is the subwoofer a good design? Is the motor design low distortion? Is the design reliable?
