There is no dip #9. Is it hidden under the cover?

Regardless of what is causing this problem (hope its not a defective unit) it appears the installer "hammer bagged" this one. I would go over everything.

Keep us posted.

OOOOps....sorry, I was thinking about the 1105. The 1000 is like so.

when the hood is opened, and the contact is closed put 2, and 3 up, then hit the brake, put them down, hit the brake.

contact is open, put 2, 3, and 4, up...do the brake thing.

I can't really critisize the "astrostarts" as I have no experience with them.

But this kind of programming procedure seems "audiovoxish". Or at least like the older ones.

They worked fine, were reliable, and straight forward install, but any programming issues were at the least a bit tricky and time consuming.

But perhaps I am somewhat "spoiled" from using only DEI products for the last several years.

Not to say DEI is any better quality, it just seems that an issue like this would have taken under a minute to rectify.

And I question the install integraty due to that fact there is no hoodpin connection, that displays to me that safety and liability were not a factor in this particular install..so why would quality be?

regardless, Kar Tuneman apparently knows his stuff so hopefully you are on your way.

again, luck be with you.

I use the multitest 2 to program and check errors in programming. (astros version of the bitwritter) Those dip switches are a pain.....

Yeah, Astro is pretty good... havn't had a unit actually fail in service yet.... but if the programing gets messed up [genrally by someone screwing with dips...] then ya got problems... The instructions are not the greatest, but easy once you figure them out...

Thanks to ALL of you esp Hymer who provided the pdf (if I ever get the pdf 'fixed', I'll email you a copy).
This thing was hosed good, and the programming docs have a little error, but we got through it.
A: Had to reset hood switch type for contact open. That got the starter to turn over..but..it was real rough and kept trying to restart by itself.
B: Default was engine config set for 1 cylinder, had to reset for 6 cyl.
C: Harness 252 green wire set for Passkey, needed to be set for Trunk
At this point, it was running, but we were on a roll...
D: set door lock command for Auto... didn't seem to work right, then found the error on the programming page. Level 8 says harness 252 Blue Wire; NOT; it's the white wire as indicated on page 1 of the pdf, and then it showed no default for Start/Stop Trigger; it defaults to disabled.
So after we then set Level 8 for Start/Stop Trigger enabled and Ground when doors locked for (white) wire, we were rockin!
Car starts, tach is set, door locks work from remote, trunk opens from remote, sentinel mode works, doors lock when car is put into gear and unlock automatically when key is turned off.
WOW! This was a tough one, you guys were all great, thanks for your support, now I think I'll 'donate' some of mine to help keep these forums going.
Hymer, thanks again for the pdf, without that I don't think we ever would've gotten through it.
best,
Tom

Wow, pretty amazing that it took a jump start to discover that many things were wrong with it.

So in a sense it was a good thing that the battery died.

Glad you are back in business.

Thanks everyone, I also learned alot about the astros.
