Dear All

Is it possible to install an on-off switch and / or volume for a car sub

I would like to install one which I can control in this way from the drivers seat.

If it is possible how would I do it and what would I need?

I would really love any help with this question which I have not found an answer to.

Thanks

Jonathan

Just put a switch onto the remote turn on lead on the amplifier. This will turn off/on the sub when ever you want.

Agreed, that is the way to go. I've run toggles to my amps in my last 3 cars. There's a large variety to choose from, lighted/unlighted, round/rectangular, tall, short, toggle/button, etc. Just go to your local auto parts store and check them out.

Unfortunately I've never done a DIY "remote volume control". The closest I've done is using the "remote bass" feature that is present on some amplifiers. This allows you to add a certain decible increase/decrease by using the control. Unfortunately it's not available on all amplifiers.

There are some knobs that go inline on the rca's, which would allow you to turn down the signal to the amp.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

L-pads. Problem is, they don't handle a whole hell of a lot of power. 150 wrms for a good one.

You don't want to use an L-Pad  but you can go to radio shack and buy  part number 271-1732    and a knob and a box to put it in and an RCA cable long enough to go from your radio to your amp  and I can tell you how to wire it up to be able to control your volume of the sub amp
